StudyWorld autumn 2022
Accessible and affordable: StudyWorld online brings educators and agents together
Over 150 educators, study abroad agents and service providers joined StudyWorld autumn, in online meetings, on 20-21 September.
We plan to continue with online events every autumn, providing an affordable way for English UK members and other accredited UK institutions to regularly connect with international partners, in particular those who are less able to travel to events in Europe.
Huan Japes, our Membership Director, gave a brief UK ELT market update for agents. He shared the positive news that Q2 of this year showed a 70% recovery compared to pre-pandemic levels. The main message is that life in the UK is very much back to normal. Earlier this year all Covid restrictions were lifted, and over 300 English UK member centres were in operation in Summer 2022.
We are grateful to our event sponsors Endsleigh Insurance, whose support helps us keep costs low for attendees.

StudyWorld autumn was part of a series of English UK events in September showcasing the quality of UK ELT and the importance of strong partnerships.
In early September the 40th anniversary of Accreditation UK, the internationally-renowned inspection scheme for UK ELT, was marked by the industry. Around 50 study abroad agents saw the scheme’s work for themselves when they joined the first English UK fam trips since before the pandemic.
Late September the English UK Marketing Conference welcome international education marketers to London. The latest UK tourism insights, expert marketing sessions and how to create a feel-good and diverse workplace which boosts sales were all discussed during a very positive conference.
Organiser Siobhan Baccas said: “The intention was to keep the momentum of summer going at a time when everyone is planning their marketing. It’s been wonderful to get everyone together, with such a positive mood.” English UK Chair Mark Rendell added: “There’s a really good spirit, and not only have we had lots of ideas to move us forward but also thinking about the next steps.”
Richard Bradford of sponsor Disquiet Dog said the mood was different to last year, with confidence in the market and a changed focus from operational challenges to marketing front and centre. “To lay strong foundations projects need to have time to flourish and fail and we have to learn from those mistakes. To build a new market channel takes time and a steady long haul but the market is on our side and the next few years will be really strong ones,” he said.
